Lifelong surf champion Alistair Boot and Iron House Brewery have partnered to create a new Tasmanian brew that celebrates the island’s iconic Shipstern Bluff surf break. The landmark and its spectacular coastline, located 48km south of Hobart, captivated Boot some years ago and inspired him and his brewing team to create a beer that would resonate well with surfers in the area as well as other local beer lovers.

To try and capture the personality of the famous mountainous landmark in flavour, Boot and the team at Iron House have used Tasmanian hops. The result is a lager that’s clean and crisp and also slightly sweet, with a big fruit punch that finishes dry and refreshing.

Shipstern Lager is currently being distributed to Tasmanian hotels, bars and clubs in kegs through Polkadot Liquor Wholesalers Tasmania. The beer will be available as a single bottle (RRP $6.50), 16 bottle slab (RRP $59) and 24 bottle carton (RRP $85).

Alistair_Boot Alistair Boot competed in the Australian National Titles and State Titles and was SA champion for several years in the sixties. He was later sponsored by Don Burford and John Arnold, who were both well known in the surfwear and board shaping industries.
