Liquor Barons is celebrating the success of a viral video campaign that asked its followers to share the unique ways they open a beer.

Liquor Barons launched the user-generated content campaign on Facebook that leveraged its large and engaged WA-based audience.

Aligning with its WA Day Catalogue, the campaign sought to encourage Facebook followers to upload video content to Facebook, and it was overwhelmed by the response.

The WA Day Catalogue was released to coincide with a public holiday in Western Australia, celebrated on the first Monday in June each year, which commemorates the founding of the Swan River Colony in 1829.

With a reach of 110,000 and video views of 53,000, the viral video campaign has been a resounding success and continues to draw more on-line attention.

General Manager Chris O’Brien said: “The premise of the campaign is simple, we asked our followers to show us how they open a beer without a bottle opener, with the best video winning a prize.

“The winning video truly exceeded our expectations on the content which was generated by our followers, you really need to watch it.”

“We’ve worked hard on communicating with our social media followers, crafting our messaging and tone of voice, this has helped us to garner such an amazing response from our audience they trust us, and know we’re locals.”

The winner was a follower called Dizzy Dingus, who won one of every product featured in the Liquor Barons WA Day catalogue for his video “17 Insane Way To Open A Beer”.

Liquor Barons noted on Facebook: “WOW, just WOW! Your prolific pop topping skills have exceeded our wildest expectations and earned you one of every product in our WA Day catalogue to open however you bloody like! A big thanks to everyone who entered, we’ll never open a beer the same again.”

Dizzy’s response? “GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!! Best bloody day of me life!!”
