Templeton Rye whiskey has signed an exclusive distribution deal with Kollaras & Co in Australia.

Known as being ‘Iowa’s most notorious whiskey’, the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition recently named Templeton Rye as one of the finest rye whiskeys in the world.

Templeton’s four- and six-year aged whiskey each received coveted gold medals.

Kollaras & Co Commercial Director Doug Misener said: We are thrilled to be collaborating with Templeton Rye – A historically rich and innovative brand.  This relationship creates new opportunities to support our customers desire to provide their shoppers with proven high quality brands that are truly unique to the independent channel ”

The American whiskey brand has a colourful heritage dating back to the 1920s, when residents of the small town of Templeton distilled a much sought-after rye whiskey.

That bootlegging enterprise was forced underground during the Prohibition era and flourished, with “Templeton Rye” becoming legendary. With a much-anticipated rebirth in 2006, the Templeton Rye whiskey portfolio remains inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of the original bootleggers.

Templeton Rye Executive Vice President Global Sales Shane Fitzharris said: “We are delighted to be entering the Australian market for the first time in conjunction with such a strong and distinguished distribution partner as Kollaras & Co. It is an exciting time for Templeton and American Whiskey in general. We believe our partnership positions us perfectly to help stimulate category growth in Australia.”

The state-of-the-art facility boasts a 34,500 square foot distillery located on 20 acres in downtown Templeton, a $35 million project that includes a 55,000 square foot maturation warehouse, visitor centre and museum.

It is equipped to distil and mature all styles of American Whiskey, with an annual production capacity of 2.4 million bottles. In 2018, Templeton implemented a global brand roll out entering 26 International markets over the past 16 months.

Misener noted: “Templeton Rye delivers increased strength to Kollaras & Co’s award-winning portfolio and further consolidates our position as a sought-after brand distributor. We look forward to working together to establish this proven brand in the Australian marketplace”
