Winemakers gather at Meet The Makers
More than 20 of Australia’s and New Zealand’s best winemakers are touring around the country serving their top drops at Cellarmasters’ Meet the Makers events.
They include Neil McGuigan, who is celebrating McGuigan Wines being named White Winemaker of the Year at the 2019 International Wine Challenge; Hunter Valley star Gwyn Olsen, who has been awarded Gourmet Traveller’s Young Winemaker of the Year; Celebrity chef and winemaker Stefano de Pieri, who was named Legend in the Good Food Awards 2018; former Penfolds Chief Winemaker John Duval; and Ata Mara director Janiene Bayliss from New Zealand’s famed Central Otago region.
“The Cellarmasters Meet the Makers event is a great opportunity to taste award-winning wines, try wine varieties you may never have tasted before or even heard of and meet the winemakers behind them,” said Christine Ricketts, Cellar Director at Cellarmasters.
“You’d have to spend weeks if not months travelling around the country to meet so many different winemakers from so many different regions. This event brings all of them to one place, making it the ultimate evening of fine winetasting."
Drinks Trade headed to the sold-out Sydney event on Friday and had a chance to sip some of the 60 wines available for tasting.
Upcoming Meet the Makers will be held in Melbourne on August 23, Brisbane on October 4 and Canberra on November 1.
