Starting from 1 May, the full Husk Distillers spirits portfolio will be exclusively distributed via Proof & Company. This will include both its range of premium sipping rums and Ink Gin.

“Now, after almost 9 years distributing our own brands, we are thrilled to be partnering with Proof & Company to share our story and our liquid, enriching consumer experiences and elevating social occasions across the country,” said Paul Messenger, Owner of Husk Distillers.

“We are very impressed with the Proof & Company team and business model, and we share a passion and belief that together we can make great things happen.”

Husk Distillers is a family owned and grown distillery based in Tumbulgum in Northern New South Wales that is known for making spirits ‘from farm to bottle.’ The uniqueness of the Husk Distillers business makes it a perfect match for Proof & Company, one of the leading independent spirits companies in the Asia Pacific region. Its portfolio spans independent spirits, craft cocktails ingredients, and premium bar tools and glassware.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Husk Distillers and cannot wait to bring their incredible portfolio to our markets across APAC,” said Damian Kaehler, General Manager of Proof & Company ANZ.

“As someone who grew up in the Tweed Valley, mere steps away from the distillery, this place holds profound significance for me with fond memories of the region’s vibrant sugar cane production; it’s such a special place.” Says Damian Kaehler, General Manager of Proof & Company ANZ.

Husk Distillers is divided into its two spirits categories of gin and rums. Its Ink Gin was first released in 2015 and is crafted and bottled by hand at the Husk Farm, drawing inspiration from the local botanicals.

“Starting life in a small shed at Husk Farm in 2012 it took more than 3 years before we were ready to offer our first bottles of Ink Gin for sale in July 2015,” said Messenger.

“Later that year we released our first barrel of Husk Rum. Since then, we’ve sold over a million bottles of rum and gin.”

As it stands, Husk is Australia’s only farm-to-bottle rum distillery and is Australia’s biggest rum exporter. The use of fresh sugar cane grown onsite provides Husk Rum with a unique sense of terroir.

The new partnership signifies a major milestone for both companies, and will permit Husk Distillers to upscale while still retaining its core values.
