World Cucumber Day will be celebrated on June 14 and Hendrick’s Gin is commemorating the occasion by asking the nation to cultivate their own cukes.

Hendricks’s Gin is supplying 3000 packs of cucumber seeds to fans with the aim of encouraging the nation to paint the town green by planting their own garnishes.

Leading Australian cucumber expert David Sivyer will be supplying tips and tricks to help Aussies grow their cukes.

Sivyer said: “It’s time for the avocado to move over; there’s another green fruit that deserves recognition. The cucumber is extremely versatile and has too long been in the shadows so I’m glad that Hendrick’s is enabling it to have its rightful time to shine in the spotlight. They’re easy to grow – so there’s no reason not to get involved – and make your Hendricks and tonics even better once they’re ready!”

The distiller has also partnered with bars across Sydney and Melbourne to launch a cocktail delivery service to celebrate World Cucumber Day, which includes a selection of specially curated ‘cuke-tails’ starting from $10. Each cocktail will be accompanied by a Hendrick’s Gin “Cultivate Your Cuke’ growing kit.

Sydneysiders will be able to enjoy hand-crafted gin cocktails such as the Cucumber & Lavender Collins from Gin Lane, PS40’s Cucumber Express, Low 302’s Pepino Manzana, Lo and Behold from Hotel Ravesis or the Unusual Vesper from Bar M.

Melburnians can get their hands on Bubble T&T from Black Pearl Bar, Atticus Finch will be serving up More Tea, Vicar, while The Antique Bar will have the Summer Garden and The Eastside.

Throughout June, Hendrick’s has also joined forces with online bottle shop, Boozebud to offer ‘Cultivate Your Cuke’ growing kits with every purchase of a Hendrick’s Gin product.
