Justin Hemmes has made his third pub acquisition within a week, expanding his New South Wales portfolio with the purchse of Cheeky Monkey’s Bar and adjoining massage spa.

The CEO of Merivale has bee life long connection to the much-loved coastal destination. Hemmes said, “I’ve been going to Byron since I was ten years old, so it has always been a place close to my heart. I can’t wait to open our first venue on the North Coast and spend more time in the area. There’s simply no place like it”.

The bar is located on Byron Bay’s main strip, 115 Johnson St, and is the first Merivale venue on the far North Coast. The property, which was previously owned by Red Rock Leisure and will reopen as a restaurant and bar.

Merivale will receive the keys to the venue on 28 May. Further details will be announced in due course.
