Giant Hendricks cucumber gets in pickle on Sydney Harbour

Our commiserations go out to Hendricks Gin after the brand’s giant cucumber stunt went terribly wrong on Sydney Harbour last week.

The “new landmark” was supposed to take center stage at Sydney’s Darling Harbour for three days.

Curious consumers were invited to take a cucumber from the ‘Hendrick’s Cucumber Bar’ situated opposite Home Nightclub in Darling Harbour, before swapping the vegetable for a free Hendrick’s gin and tonic at participating venues across Sydney Harbour including Blackbird Cafe, Helm Bar, Tokio Hotel and many more.

However, the promotional stunt went awry when the inflatable cucumber ripped, deflated and fell into the water.

Morgan Flanagan, Brand Ambassador, Hendricks Gin said before the incident; “It’s not a Hendrick’s Gin affair without the extraordinary. We have gone above and beyond to bring Sydneysiders a spectacle from the sea to the street in an unlikely curious style.”

Unfortunately the spectacle wasn’t quite the one he was hoping for.
