Australian-owned tech company FoodByUs, is adding alcohol to its ‘one stop procurement shop’ for small-medium-sized hospitality businesses, targeting an additional $48m in revenue.

The FoodByUs platform connects venues with wholesale food suppliers and has seen its revenue increase six-fold since 2019. It was started by several Menulog founders in 2016.

Co-founder Ben Lispchitz, says, “For a while now our customers have been asking us to include alcohol as a purchasing category. The FoodByUs platform assists customers with invoicing, helping them reclaim time spent on tedious admin and accounting tasks while increasing profitability through access to a wider range of food and alcohol suppliers with the best in market pricing.”

The business has already signed agreements with The Liquor Co-Op (part of the Independent Liquor Group), National Liquor Wholesalers, Shorty’s Liquor, S&P Liquor, Monacellars, My Liquor Online, BoozeBud, and Akasha Brewery. The broad range of suppliers gives hospitality businesses all of the FoodByUs benefits in this new category, including access to tens of thousands of beer, wine and spirits products at competitive prices.

Ben Braun, Retail Services & Sales Manager at Independent Liquor Group said, “We love FoodByUs as we see it as a great additional channel to the on-premise market. With their buyer network and sales team, we can easily grow and increase our sales, with the added benefit of guaranteed payment meaning minimum risk.”

“Joining the FoodByUs platform will give us access to over a thousand restaurants, pubs, clubs, RSLs, hotels and venues and we are thrilled to be partnering.”

The foray into alcohol also enables FoodByUs to expand its customer offering, providing them with access to buying power usually reserved for much larger hospitality groups.

Mr Lipschitz, co-founder and Managing Director of FoodByUs, said, “Alcohol is such a big component of the dining experience, so we’re pleased to expand our offering to help business owners make better informed choices when ordering by making it easier for them to find the best deals in the market.

“We are positive that with the addition of alcohol to our marketplace, our network of buyers and sellers will continue to grow, enjoying both the benefits of our technology and what our service offers.”

The platform facilitates instant ordering from Australia’s top suppliers including Global Food & Wine Distribution, Delre National, Superior Food Service and Foodlink, catering to thousands of venues such as Bistro Rex, the Zetland Hotel and Charlie and Frankie’s cafes and catering.
