SA-based family owned liquor retail group, Fassina Liquor is celebrating its 40th year of trading this week.

The family’s first store was opened in 1975 by Italian migrant, Joe Fassina. Beginning as a bottling hall on the Somerton Park site, today the Fassina family operate 8 liquor stores around Australia.

Three generations are now involved in the family business, with Joe’s children and grandchildren running day-to-day operations. With only a few truly independent liquor stores left in SA, Fassina Liquor continues to buck the trend with a heavy focus on customer service and supporting small local SA wineries and producers.

“We are extremely proud of this 40 year milestone”, Fassina Group Managing Director, Ross Fassina said. “The landscape of the South Australian liquor industry has changed dramatically, particularly over the last 10 years, but we have been able to keep our heads down and focus on consistently offering our customers something new and something local.”

To mark their 40 year anniversary, the family has pulled out a 1997 Grange Magnum (1.5lt) valued at $1,500, which it will be giving to one of its lucky customers at the end of the year, when the family will be holding its Fassina Wine Club Sparkling Gala Event (Wednesday 18 November).
