Employees Only Sydney 1st Birthday
The globally recognised and renowned speakeasy Employees Only celebrated the first birthday of its Sydney outpost last night in extravagant fashion.
In true speakeasy tradition the New York style cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Sydney’s CBD is hidden from plain sight, look for the neon red ‘Psychic’ sign, walk down to the heritage-listed basement, past the tarot-reader and through the heavy velvet curtains to find a candlelit, old-world bar gleaming with brass.
Owner, Dushan Zaric flew to Australia to host the lavish fancy dress affair – guests showed up in 1920’s New York attire and commemorated the special occasion in true extra Employees Only form, kicking the party off at 9pm with a live jazz band, New York style burlesque dancers and of course the tarot readings!
Guests included Mel Lucarelli, Jeff Lack, Avril Rae, Danny Clayton, Halcyon Powe and more.
Known for its reputation as one of the world’s best bars (as voted best in 2011), Sydney’s bar scene stepped it up several notches when renowned New York speakeasy Employees Only opened its Sydney outpost in 2018.
Employees Only birthday party felt like not only a celebration of its successful year but also as a prelude to a exciting years ahead!
