A new Aussie venture called Drinks Trolley is helping venues and distributors during the COVID-19 shutdown, by selling their stock direct to consumers.

The business is the brainchild of Jono Jenkins and Mairead Jarrett (below).

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks for the pair. They initially started with a concept called Hospo Huddle as a way to reach out to the hospitality industry and help with their wine stock overload.

Now they’ve launched Drinks Trolley, a B2C site focused on selling wine, you’d normally be drinking if you were in a bar or restaurant.

“The model is constantly evolving in these different times,” said Jarrett.

“We’re still working directly with venues and their stockholdings, what we’ve also discovered is distributors of wines and their wineries have also been hit really hard. Through them we’re now working with lots of venues and creating a new channel for returned stock.

“Lots of wine guys have spent the last week taking wine from their customers and putting it back in their warehouses. That’s where Drinks Trolley jumps in, stock is going on our site at razor sharp pricing and finding its way into isolation homes.”

The business is delivering all through Easter with delivery within 24 hours around Sydney metro.

Drinks Trolley is also employing people whose work has dried up because of shutdown.
