Coles and Woolworths Liquor Announce New Appointments to Senior Management

Both Coles and Woolworths have announced new appointments to senior management this week.

Coles Liquor announced that Thinus Keeve has re-joined Coles’ supermarkets as State General Manager, NSW, leaving his role as General Manager of Coles Liquor. As a result, GM for WA supermarkets, Cathi Scarce has been appointed as GM of Coles Liquor.

Coles Liquor Director, Greg Davis, said on the appointment: “Cathi has always been a champion for our stores, and her enthusiasm for sales and people will add to the strength of the liquor leadership team.

“We’re very excited to have her on board as we work to deliver even better value and a fantastic shopping experience for our customers.”

While at Woolworths, as a result of Brad Banducci’s move to the role of Managing Director, the group announced that it had appointed Martin Smith as Managing Director of Woolworths Liquor Group.

GM Merchandise at WLG, Rose Scott said on announcing the appointment: “Martin Smith has been formally appointed to the role of Managing Director of the Woolworths Liquor Group, reporting to Brad.

“Martin possesses 45 years of Australian retail experience, including a total of 33 years at Woolworths Limited, and has been acting in the Managing Director role since February this year. He joined Dan Murphy’s as National Operations Manager in 2002 and became Dan Murphy’s General Manager in 2008.”

In addition at Woolworths, Campbell Stott has been appointed as GM of Dan Murphy’s, leaving his role as Merchandise Manager. While Dan Murphy’s Head of Wine, Michael Jackson has been formally appointed as National Merchandise Manager for Dan’s and Adam Jenkins has taken over the responsibility for the group’s Non-Liquor and Spirits/RTDs & Cider portfolios.
