533a0014Byron Bay Brewery reopened today after closing its doors in July for three month long renovations. The brewery unveiled a new food and beverage menu alongside a refreshed look incorporating wide-open spaces, intimate booth seating, and an impressive beer garden.

Once an old piggery, Byron Bay Brewery was started by a couple of locals in 2004, driven by their love for all natural beer. Today the brewery is run by Al. Hailing, who discovered his passion for brewing in his garage at home. Breaking the mould from most craft beer producers, Byron Bay Brewery concentrates on making craft lagers, believing its the style their skills are best suited to and the style that’s best suited to the warm climate of Byron Bay.

Craft Director at the brewery’s owner, Lion, Gordon Treanor said that Byron Bay Brewery will continue to offer fresh craft beers as part of its reinvigorated food and beverage experience and remain an integral part of the local community into the future. Core beers include The Hazy One – quenching, balanced and fruity, The Bold One – a bitter lager, The Rosy One – toasty, caramel and ruby coloured, The Pale One – a refreshing pale ale, The Lively One – an IPA with big American hop flavours and The Dark One – a dark lager with a coffee and dark chocolatey aroma.

Treanor said, “We are excited to open the doors to the Brewery and share the revitalised space with locals and visitors alike. We believe we have developed a high-quality yet accessible food and beverage experience that showcases what the Byron region has to offer. We also know how important the Brewery is to the local region and we are looking forward to finding new and innovative ways to engage the community and give back to those who continue to support us”.

Head Brewer, Alastair Gillespie, who has worked at Byron Bay Brewery since June 2015 also commented on the opening.

“I’ve seen the work that’s gone into the renovation and I can’t wait for people to come in and see how great it looks. Anyone who pops in will really enjoy the new experience on offer and I am really looking forward to brewing some of the popular ales made at the brewery over the years and also sharing some new lagers.”
