Brown-Forman Corporation has reported financial results for the first nine months of fiscal 2015, ended January 21, 2015.

The company reports growth in net sales in the period by 3 per cent (+5 per cent on an underlying basis) and operating income by 2 per cent (+7 per cent on an underlying basis.

Commenting on the results, Paul Varga, CEO of the company said: “Brown-Forman’s seven per cent growth in underlying operating income over the first nine months is impressive against last year’s strong comparisons. Our industry-leading results were once again driven by our portfolio skew to premium American whiskey brands and a balanced geographic approach.”

Brown-Forman’s Jack Daniel’s trademark grew underlying net sales by 8 per cent and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey by 32 per cent. Overall, the company’s super/ultrapremium whiskey brands surpassed one million cases on a twelve month basis, and grew underlying net sales double-digits, including 32 per cent growth from the Woodford Reserve family (+30 per cent reported).

In Australia however, results were down slightly as share gains were not enough to offset weak economic conditions and competitive pressures
