Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Château Miraval has announced it is partnering with Champagne Pierre Péters to create the world’s first Champagne House that only produces rosé.

Marc Perrin, the fifth generation winemaker at Château de Beaucastel who also makes the wine for Miraval, revealed details of the project to Wine Spectator.

“We are working very hard on that right now with Rodolphe Péters, from Pierre Péters,” Perrin said.

Wine Spectator described Péters as “one of Champagne’s hottest grower-producers”.

“Péters has made a splash with his unusual rosé-making technique, blending a saignée of Pinot Meunier with Chardonnay—though no word yet on the style of the Miraval Champagne,” Wine Spectator noted.

“We will create the only Champagne house which only makes rosé,” said Perrin. “We are going to try to push the quality of rosé as far as possible in Champagne.”

Last year, the winery debuted Muse de Miraval, a new prestige cuvée, at the Cannes Film Festival. The wine is only available in magnums for around $US290.

“The idea for us with this wine is to show that great rosé can be as great as great white or great red,” Perrin told Wine Spectator. “It can evolve with time and become extremely complex. That’s why we decided to bottle it in magnums so that people try to keep it as [long] as possible.”
