Mozo Experts Choice Awards has named its top Online Liquor and Wine Retailers for 2019.

Now in their sixth year, the Mozo Experts Choice Awards provide a platform to highlight products in the marketplace it believes offer great value to Australians.

It’s the first year for liquor retailers to be included in the awards, which recognise the best in their class for product pricing, product range, the ordering and delivery experience, as well as customer support.

“Whether it’s a celebratory drink or a Sunday barbecue at the beach, Aussies love their alcohol,” said Mozo money expert, AJ Duncanson.

“So, this year we’ve introduced the Mozo Experts Choice Awards for Online Liquor and Wine Retailers to help Aussies find the best places to pick up wine or a six-pack without having to leave the comforts of their sofa.”

And the winners are …

Mozo online liquor awards - Dan Murphy's

Online Liquor Retailer of the Year – Dan Murphy’s

Mozo noted that Dan Murphy’s was the clear winner in the Online Liquor Retailer of the Year, having scooped the pool with awards for Price, Range and Shopping Experience.

“The main things that Dan Murphy’s scored highly on, that led to them being our best retailer were, the price; as they were consistently cheaper across all three product categories in our basket scenario, the product range; as they offered the widest range across all product categories, the ordering experience; as they filter and sort results to easily find what you’re after and include ratings and reviews from customers and lastly, delivery options; where you can choose the time of day for delivery,” Mozo said.

Online Wine Retailer of the Year – Just Wines

Just Wines earned a Product Range award for its superior range and also returning a solid result in Mozo’s assessment of Shopping Experience.

“Their product range offered unrivalled choice across the most popular wine varieties with extensive options for more unique wine styles. The ordering experience made it easy to find what you are looking for, with a clearly-designed menu, excellent searching and filtering options and the support offered a money-back guarantee, if a wine is not to your liking,” Mozo said.

Online Liquor Retailer – Price

To compare product prices between Online Liquor Retailers, Mozo selected a basket of 51 products and compared the price of each item at each retailer.

The basket contained a range of different brands, styles and price points that are commonly purchased. Two retailers stood out as having a higher average-savings-per-item across all three categories – BoozeBud and Dan Murphy’s.

Online Liquor Retailer – Product Range

To determine the broadest product range for our awards, Mozo searched each retailer’s website to compile a list of every alcoholic product listed for sale excluding those that were listed, but out of stock.

Mozo took into account the unique category, brand, variety and size options of each product to determine which online retailers had the widest breadth of options.

The three winners were BoozeBud, Dan Murphy’s and Nicks Wine Merchants.

Online Liquor Retailer – Shopping Experience

To discover the leading online liquor shopping experiences, Mozo used a weighted scoring system, with the primary customer interactions divided in three categories: ordering, delivery and support.

The winners were Dan Murphy’s and Vintage Cellars.

Online Wine Retailer – Product Range

To discover the leading online wine product range, Mozo searched each retailer’s website to compile a list of every wine product listed for sale excluding those that were listed but out of stock.

It took into account the unique category, brand, variety and size options of each product to determine which online retailers had the widest breadth of options.

The two winners were Just Wines and Langton’s.

Online Wine Retailer – Shopping Experience

To discover the leading online wine shopping experiences, Mozo used a weighted scoring system, with the primary customer interactions divided in three categories: ordering, delivery and support.

The winner was The Wine Collective.
