Lynne Barrett, Head of Ecommerce, Dan Murphy’s, has been named as one of Australia’s Top 50 People in E-Commerce 2020.

Barrett, who joined Endeavour Group in November 2019, came in at No.17 on the list, compiled by Internet Retailing.

The judges and Internet Retailing readers were asked to nominate outstanding professionals at e-commerce businesses in Australia. Each nominee was asked to share their recent achievements in four areas: commercial success, knowledge sharing, innovation and broader impact.

Each judge was randomly assigned 50 applications to score according to a rubric, with every application read by five judges. The candidates’ total scores determined their final ranking.

Internet Retailing noted: “Lynne has been leading e-commerce strategy for over 15 years. Her wealth of retail experience across all functions has contributed significantly to building highly profitable end-to-end operating models and go-to-market strategies. She credits her success to her hands-on approach, insight-driven decisionmaking and relentless pursuit to improve and challenge the status quo.

Judge Jo Harris added: “Lynna has an incredibly holistic and pragmatic point of view that she put to use implementing customer-centric innovation to attain market penetration for [her previous employer] National Tiles. Striving to push boundaries in e-commerce and bring others along for the ride, Lynna is an advocate for agile working and shares her thoughts and knowledge generously within the industry. She will be an exciting individual to watch in the times ahead.”

Justin Dry ecommerce

Justin Dry (above, right), Founder/CEO at Vinomofo, was the next drinks industry identity on the ecommerce list at No.38.

Internet Retailing noted: “Justin is an entrepreneur, investor and the CEO of Vinomofo, one of Australia’s fastest-growing companies. Started by Justin and co-founder Andre Eikmeier in 2011, Vinomofo now operates in Australia, NZ and Singapore, where it has grown quickly to more than $50 million in annual revenue, 500,000 members, and a team of 100.”

Judge Laura Doonin added: “Justin is rapidly becoming a brand unto himself, a momentous Aussie success story openly sharing his knowledge and approach with the world through content creation, and his unshakable commitment to adding value to entrepreneurs and retailers alike. Over the past 12 months Justin’s fearless leadership style has guided the Vinomofo team through major digital transformation, taking them from a monolithic custom-built site to an e-commerce stack which successfully integrates the most advanced SaaS technology with limitless possibility.”

Woolworths named Australia’s top online retailer

Earlier this month, Woolworths was named Australia’s No.1 Online Retailer by ecommerce intelligence specialist Power Retail.

It’s the the fourth year running that Woolworths has nabbed the No.1 Online Retailer award.

Each year, Power Retail recognises Australia’s Top 100 Online Retailers and announces category winners at its All Star Bash event. It bases its rankings on four key metrics, including acquisition, retention, conversion and fulfilment.

“In earlier years, Power Retail has used revenue and traffic volumes as the primary measure for ranking the list – however in 2018 we began to recognise additional measures to focus on the overall application of best practice to distinguish the leading online retailers,” explained David Fear, Head of Analytics at Power Retail.

The Top 5 included Coles, Bunnings Warehouse, Target and Big W. Other winners of the night included Adore Beauty, which nabbed three awards, Catch, Showpo and THE ICONIC.
