In response to COVID-19, The Whisky Show has announced it will launch an Australian first with The Virtual Whiskey Show (American Style), a digital experience aimed at letting consumers enjoy the event from the comfort and safety of their homes.

Following the advice of medical and government officials, The Whisky Show has decided to cancel the public gathering of the upcoming Melbourne event, which was scheduled to take place on April 18, 2020, along with its other events during March and April.

The first virtual Whiskey Show will kick off with a livestream of the event on April 18 and there is a limited show exclusive bottling available to purchase as an add-on.

David Ligoff, the founder of The Whisky Shows, explained: “We know that many of you have been looking forward to our annual Whisky Show events, and while many other events across the country are being cancelled, we wanted to find a way to keep the whiskey flowing while people at are home doing the right thing by self-isolation. We’ve developed a unique way to bring the Show to you, in the comfort of your own home.“

Ticket holders will each receive a sample box of whiskies that are normally on offer to try at the show, a dedicated show app with all the bottle information and videos about each whisky, plus additional unique features allowing consumers to rate their favourite bottles and an online purchase feature for special show pricing of each bottle.

“Each year people attend the whisky shows, try a new whisky and want to take it home with them,” Ligoff said. “It was important to us that our customers get that same experience with the virtual shows. This is why we are enabling an online store into our app to ensure our customers can get as close to that experience as possible by being able to purchase any whiskey they enjoyed trying at special Whiskey Show pricing.”

The Virtual Whiskey Show is a celebration of around 50 whiskies from the US and Canada, plus some Australian Ryes.

Consumers will taste popular brands including Woodford Reserve, Booker’s, Legent, Wild Turkey, Old Forester, Koval, Millstone and Shelter Point.
