Archie Rose Distilling Co has launched Future Classics – its next incarnation of its Bottled Cocktail range – a post-apocalyptic vision of cocktails that stand the test of time.
Featuring four cocktails, Archie Rose Creative Drinks Manager, Rocky Hair has imagined a futuristic world in four different dimensions, complemented by artwork from emerging Australian digital artist, Stu Ballinger.
We began exploring the new range inspired by 2020 as COVID was, for a time, a social apocalypse,” says Archie Rose Head of Hospitality, Harriet Leigh. “We drank at home, and we drank better. Rocky took this question and explored four divergent future worlds, with four distorted classic cocktails surviving the next test of time, just as they always have. The result is four delicious and ready to pour cocktails, ready to stockpile in case of future isolations, or indeed taking to a party.”

Cloud Century
The Cloud Century rises from the vapours of a 20th century cocktail, which traditionally pairs an unlikely couple in citrus and chocolate. Here, Rocky reimagines the drink to taste like the light of multiple suns, petrichor and cumulus clouds by spinning together Archie Rose Original Vodka, dry vermouth, yuzu, hazelnut and citrus.
Pour 100ml over ice or neat or pour 70ml and match with an equal measure of soda, sparkling wine, or Strangelove Yuzu Soda.
Neon Gimlet
The Neon Gimlet sprouts from a traditional Gimlet, flourishing in a world exposed to high levels of radiation, where plants have developed their own bioluminescence and vegetation has taken over to produce a thriving verdure. Signature Dry Gin grows fresh and distorted with muscat grape, candied green apple, cucumber, jasmine and basil.
Pour 100ml over ice or neat or pour 70ml and match with an equal measure of soda, sparkling wine, or Fever Tree Cucumber Tonic.
The Tempest
When the tropical high pressure of a Dark and Stormy meets its nemesis, the low-pressure tiki Zombie, the Tempest is born. This powerful vortex blends Archie Rose white rye, pineapple, passionfruit, pink grapefruit, spiced lime, pomegranate and falernum. Best sipped on the sand of your desert island utopia while watching a tropical storm roll in.

Nugroni
The Nugroni is all that survives when all other drinks have demised. The last survivor in a singular industrial megacity, this variation of the classic negroni is instilled with smoke, grit and determination. Fortified with Distiller’s Strength Gin, classic bitters and sweet vermouth, this cocktail preserves the last of nature’s pears, tainted by the city’s smouldering ashes.
