Archie Rose bar opens at Sydney Airport

Archie Rose Distilling Co has appointed Lewis Jaffrey as Group Bars Manager, a role that’s been created to service the rollout of new bar offerings for the business, including the just launched Archie Rose Bar at Sydney Airport’s T1 International Terminal.

Lewis joins Archie Rose following a year in New York as co-owner, bar manager and operations director for Manhattan restaurant and bar, Gran Tivoli and Peppi’s Cellar, a role he was recruited for based on his global success across the Australia and UK including Big Poppa’s, The Baxter Inn and Grandma’s in Sydney and Home House and Le Monde Hotel in the UK.

As owner, general manager and director of Big Poppa’s, Lewis won a slew of awards including Best Restaurant Bar in the Time Out 2017 Awards, the Best Bartenders Bar in the 2017 Bartender Magazine Awards and the People’s Choice in the Concrete Playground 2017 Awards.

While he was at the helm at The Baxter Inn, it made the top ten in the World’s Best 50 Bars and highest entry for new bar at number 6 in the world.

Since joining Archie Rose in October Jaffrey (above) has worked with head of hospitality Harriet Leigh and the Archie Rose bar team to create and this week launch a new pop-up custom-designed up cocktail bar at Sydney Airport’s T1 International Terminal.

Serving Martinis, Manhattans and other signature cocktails, the Archie Rose Bar at T1 International Airport Terminal features the distillery’s range of gins, vodka and whiskies, including the recently launched Archie Rose x Sydney Opera House Outside and Inside Gins and Rye Malt Whisky.

“We are so bloody lucky to have Lewis join our team,” said Leigh. “He’s a natural leader with a layered and holistic skill set and just totally gets the ins and outs of hospitality.

“He’s also got an awesome ability to create differentiated experiences that smack of originality, starting with our new Archie Rose Cocktail Bar at Sydney Airport’s International Terminal.

“It’s been great working with Lewis and the Archie Rose bar team to create a cocktail bar that gives passengers a truly unique Sydney hospitality experience.

“We’ll be serving an incredible revolving drinks menu that treats people to a world-class cocktail experience before they board!”

Available from mid-November 2019 to February 2020 the Archie Rose Cocktail Bar found at B1045 T1 International, after security near Gate 30, just near Kitchen By Mike and Joe The Juice.
