Announced at this year’s Tales of the Cocktail, Amaro di Angostura has been named the Spirited Awards’ “Best New Spirit of Cocktail Ingredient” for 2015.

Inspired by Don Carlos Siegert, the son of Angostura’s Founder, J.G.B Siegert, and who is recognised for putting Angostura aromatic bitters on the global stage in the 1880’s, Amaro di Angostura is a new liqueur from the house, reminiscent of the iconic Angostura aromatic bitters formula, but with added spices and neutral spirit.

Bottled at 35 per cent, Amaro di Angostura is deep amber in colour and offers notes of cinnamon, liquorice, dark chocolate and Angostura aromatic bitters, and can be enjoyed over ice, on its own or in cocktails.

Set to launch in Australia later this year, the win underpins support for the new product and solidifies the brand’s position further globally.

“2015 has been an exceptional year for the House of Angostura so far as we continue to grow globally. The momentum around Amaro di Angostura has been incredibly strong in the U.S, and we’re looking forward to expanding distribution to Australia & Europe in the coming months,” said Genevieve Jodhan, Executive Manager International Sales and Marketing for Angostura.

“It’s an honour to have been nominated in such good company, with so many other brands joining us in working to elevate innovation and creativity in the spirits category. We’re incredibly proud to have been selected as the winner in such a competitive category.”
