Tyrrell’s 2020 Hunter Valley Semillon – a bright light

Tyrrell’s has released a one-off Semillon blend produced from two of the best parcels of the 2020 vintage: HVD ‘Signpost’ and Belford. For Tyrrell’s, the wine is a triumph and bright light in a year characterised by challenging conditions.

The ‘Signpost’ and Belford blocks were planted in 1908 and 1933 respectively, and are two of the iconic Semillon vineyards of the world.

“They’re two of the best horses in our stable, for want of a better expression…If you think about those two vineyards in warmer years…They’re some of the best wines we’ve ever produced,” said Chris Tyrrell.

The creators of indie water brand Sips Sparkling have launched Sips Hard Seltzer. Pairing classic fruit with native Australian botanicals, Sips mixes sparkling water and triple-distilled vodka.

Pirate Life & Limeburners release second stout

Pirate Life has teamed up with Limeburners Whisky to craft its second limited-edition Whisky Barrel Aged Stout.

The Stout is the result of a relationship built between the Pirate Life and Limeburners teams, which began in 2016 when Limeburners founder and master distiller, Cameron Syme, dropped past Pirate Life to offer an impromptu tasting with Pirate Life co-founders Michael Cameron, Jack Cameron and Jared (Red) Proudfoot.

After a few whiskies and ales, the crew decided to collaborate on a Whisky Aged Stout.
